What is it

The Multi-Delay is a rhythmic multi-tap delay block. It has 10 sub-algorithms:

  • Quad Tap
  • Plex Delay
  • Plex Detune
  • Plex Shift
  • Band Delay
  • Quad Series
  • Ten-Tap
  • Rhythm Tap
  • Diffusor
  • Multi Tape Delay

Multi Delay in the Axe-Fx III

In the Axe-Fx III, the features of the Multi Delay (and more) are available through 3 separate blocks; Multitap Delay block (often referred to as Multi Delay), Plex Delay block and Ten-Tap Delay block.

Comb Filter Type parameter has been added.

Tips and tricks

  • Apply High Cut if you want the Multi Delay to not interfere with the dry signal.
  • If you need a specific number of repeats, use Band Delay or Tap Ten Delay.
  • In Plex Shift Mode, adjusting Shift will affect pitch, tempo and the number of repeats. This is not a bug. source
  • Use Plex Shift to create the "shimmer" effect.
  • Multi Delay doesn't support spillover between presets. Here's a block for the Axe-Fx III
  • Multi Delay features a "true" Mono Tape Echo mode.
