The Noise Gate needs CPU power, so switch it off if you have no need for it in a preset.
==The Axe-Fx II has additional noise gates (Gate/Expander block). Try it before the Amp block, with Sidechain set to Input. This way the input signal controls the gate which is what works best. No need to put it after the Amp block.
