How-Tos for the MFC-101

Rj45 port and CAT5 cable

  • To connect the Axe-Fx II and the MFC-101 floor controller a CAT5 cable can be used (instead of a MIDI cable). The CAT5 cable provides power to the MFC-101 without the need to connect an adapter to the Axe-Fx II, transmits MIDI messages between the Axe-Fx II and MFC-101, and carries tuner and tempo information to the MFC-101. With the CAT5 cable the MFC-101 switches off when the Axe-Fx II is switched off. The CAT5 cabe connects to the Rj45 port on the Axe-Fx II. A propietary communication protocol is used for bidirectional communication and phantom power. The internal PSU for the MFC-101 will also support an expansion module for the MFC-101.
