The Axe-Fx III provides additional ways to transmit MIDI messages. You can have the III transmit a MIDI PC through MIDI OUT with each preset change automatically. The [[FC-6 and FC-12 controllers]] can initiate MIDI commands using Control Switches. Incoming MIDI can be routed through the MIDI THRU port.

What is the Scene MIDI block

Available only on the Axe-Fx III.

It sends up to 8 CC or PC MIDI messages through the MIDI OUT port upon scene changes, over different MIDI channels. The MIDI messages can be different in each scene.

It must be added to the grid to use, but it does not have to be connected to the signal chain. The block can't be bypassed (but a scene can be configured to send no MIDI messages).

You can actually use the Scene MIDI block to send MIDI commands to the Axe-Fx III itself, by connecting MIDI OUT to MIDI IN.

More information in the Owner's Manual

"The MIDI block only sends data out the MIDI Out DIN jack. It does NOT send to the USB. The purpose of the MIDI block is to control other equipment in you rack via standard MIDI." source
